Our Job Training Program

The Land of a Thousand Hills Café is the main site for The Haven Project’s Job Training Program. The goal of the program is to help homeless youth become self-sufficient by obtaining employment opportunities and professional certifications, and achieving educational milestones. During our three week job training program, clients work in our cafe and have an opportunity to gain foundational employment skills through one-on-one intensive coaching. Clients are paid stipends for their work during this time, and are expected to engage with case management and other Haven Project services.

Our Job Training Program focuses on foundational skills, so that our clients can not just obtain employment – but sustain employment. These skills include: communication, time management, professionalism, workplace etiquette, and boundaries. We also provide job-readiness workshops that focus on career field placement, interview skills, smart goal setting, resume preparation, stress management, and financial coaching, among many other topics. We provide certificate training, such as CPR/first aid, OSHA and ServSafe, which are all free of charge to our clients.

In 2021, we employed 45 homeless youth in our job training program thanks to support from patrons like you. Every purchase you make here is changing lives and creating essential and sustainable social services for those who need it most!
